Happy We Were Made For Fellowship Wednesday! Good morning family of God!
UNITED WE STAND:
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayer and especially on the Lord's Day. Acts 2:42
The early believers understood what it is to live united in Spirit and Truth as a community. Luke writes that "they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." They came from different towns, cities and backgrounds, and yet they lived together in one accord. Some of the things that made their community beautiful were their daily devotion to God and one another. They were committed to learning from the apostles, spending time with each other, celebrating the Lord's supper and praying together. They also shared their resources with other believers and "ate together with glad and sincere hearts," all the while praising God. As a result, God added new people to the church daily.
The early followers of Jesus provide us with a model of Godly communion. They showcased what it was to be a community of God through sharing in the midst of poverty, persecution for Christ's sake and even death. We too are called to be united in Christ in all times, not just during church services or fellowship gatherings, but always. For when we witness our Christ-centred unity to the world, God will bring new people into His community of salvation and love.
GOD, THANK YOU FOR MAKING US YOUR PEOPLE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST. HELP US BECOME A UNITED CHURCH Body (Bride) FOR YOUR GLORY BY YOUR HOLY SPIRIT. AMEN
