Happy To Confess To Be Forgiven Friday!  Goood morning Light Bearers!

PLAYING WITH DARKNESS:

God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5

1 John warns us not to play with darkness. The writer describes God as light; a light with no darkness at all. God is absolutely pure and perfect like light, with no sin or darkness in Him. So, When we play "shadow games' with God by toying with the darkness, the Bible says that "we lie and do not live out the truth." Our games may include pretending to be 'holy' but our pretense deceives only us. So, instead of pretending, we are urged to bring our sins to the light of Christ by confessing them so that we may gain forgiveness and purification.

Playing 'pretend' sometimes spills over beyond our childhood. At home, at church or in a Bible-study, we try to play make-believe convincing even ourselves that we are above blame. We may, at times, compare ourselves with others, to assure ourselves that we are better than someone else-but this is unhelpful. God knows that we all have sinned, our shortcomings are not a surprise to Him and so we do not need to pretend. His only requirement of us is to confess our sins honestly, so that His light may shine in us and through us.

DEAR GOD, FORGIVE ME AND MAKE ME PURE LIKE YOU. I BRING MYSELF JUST AS I AM TO YOU. AMEN
